The Colorado Buffaloes and Coach Prime seem to be unable to escape the negative spotlight, as scandals seem to follow them around constantly. They have already had to deal with confusion from the transfer portal since mid-April. Furthermore, reports from May 25th surfaced that claimed Shilo Sanders had filed for bankruptcy in order to avoid paying a large $11.8 million fine related to his 2016 assault and battery case involving high school security guard John Darjеan.
The year started to get even worse for the Colorado Buffaloes after a new video showed the team in a negative light, per Josh Tolle of Sports Illustrated.
The footage purportedly shows multiple players shooting dice on the floor and pool tables at the team facility. A man claiming to be Cormani McClain is seen with another man in the act, while at least eight people gather around, significant sums of money on display. Elements from the video appear to correspond to a date shortly before the start of the 2023 season, with grey practice jerseys.
A caption from @scheld_tim with the video said, “Got this from a CU player source. Maybe Shilo Sanders can borrow $$$ from his teammates to settle up the bankruptcy. Way to go, Deion Sanders (and) Rick George. Must be the NIL.”

Colorado Buffaloes safety Shilo Sanders, the son of head coach Deion Sanders, is facing substantial legal issues related to his NIL salary after declaring bankruptcy following a $11.89 million assault case loss.
In 2022, a state court ruled that Sanders committed assault and battery against John Darjean, a security guard at Triple A Academy, the high school branch of the now-defunct Focus Academies charter school.
A lawsuit filed in Dallas District Court in 2016 alleged the security guard, John Darjean, had “sustained severe and permanent injuries including a broken neck, damage to his cervical spine, permanent neurological injuries and irreversible incontinence,” according to a 2024 filing in the bankruptcy proceedings.
