One of the most dynamic quarterback prospects in the country is sitting out of his team’s upcoming bowl game to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.
On social media, Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Joe Milton III announced that he’s officially declaring for the upcoming NFL Draft. Milton III will also sit out the team’s Citrus Bowl contest against the Iowa Hawkeyes next Monday.
Per ESPN’s Chris Low, 19-year-old freshman Nico Iamaleava will get the start for the Volunteers’ season finale. The 6-foot-6, 195-pound signal-caller has thrown for 163 yards and one touchdown in four game appearances this season.
After spending the 2018 to 2020 seasons with the Michigan Wolverines, Milton transferred to Tennessee in 2021. The 23-year-old completed 64.7 percent of pass attempts this season for 2,813 yards and 20 touchdowns against five interceptions to go along with 299 rushing yards and seven rushing scores.
Milton leaves Tennessee with a career 63.1 completion percentage, 4,159 passing yards, 32 passing touchdowns, 505 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns. Milton led the Volunteers to a 31-14 victory over Clemson in the Orange Bowl last year.
