Student-athletes may soon be limited to when they can enter their names into the NCAA transfer portal.
On Wednesday, the NCAA DI Council announced that it is recommending transfer portal windows for student-athletes.
These proposed “entry windows” would take place on two occasions — one 45-day window “beginning the day following the championship selection” and one 15-day period after the conclusion of spring practice in May, per college football insider Brad Crawford.
During that time, student-athletes must provide written notification of transfer for eligibility.
When the NCAA changed the rules around the college football transfer portal and created immediate eligibility, the result was a flurry of movement as more than 2,000 players switched schools last offseason.
The NCAA now wants to bring a little more regulation to the process after watching the new system unfold in recent months.
