The NCAA made the right call when they decided to postpone the Sugar Bowl following the tragic events in New Orleans. Football can wait at times like these.
After word came out that the Georgia Bulldogs and Notre Dame Fighting Irish wouldn’t be playing on New Years Day, as originally planned, many were left wondering when we might see the two powerhouse teams take the field to decide who would earn the final spot in the College Football Playoff semi-finals.
We now have our answer, as it was made official that the Allstate Sugar Bowl would take place on Thursday, January 2nd, at 3:00 pm CT.
It was originally believed that the game would take place at the same time as it was scheduled to take place on New Years Day – at 8:45 pm ET. However, reports indicate that it was important for both teams to have an earlier kickoff in order to help the winner recover in time for their semi-final matchup against Texas on January 10.

In addition to this attack, there was also a reported attack at Trump Hotel in Las Vegas, where a Cypertruck with explosives went off in front of the building. While the two incidents have not been confirmed as being connected, both vehicles involved in the incidents were reportedly rented from the same carsharing app, Turo.
With a game of such magnitude taking place less than 24 hours after these terrifying incidents, you can bet that security will be on high alert in New Orleans from now until well after the final whistle on Wednesday.
