Hopefully North Carolina State has insurance for its fancy new $15 million scoreboard.
The Wolfpack’s new scoreboard was featured for the first time in Saturday’s home game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The game was suspended because of inclement weather, with the Fighting Irish leading 3-0 at the time of stoppage.
Unfortunately, the beautiful new stadium was damaged by a lightning strike:
Daktronics built the new scoreboard for Carter-Finley Stadium. It measures 7,121 square feet and has 75 audio speakers, the school revealed in a recent release.

The Wolfpack opened their season with a 24-14 victory over the UConn Huskies. Saturday’s home tilt against Notre Dame (currently ranked 10th in the nation) marks NC State’s last showdown with a ranked team until Oct. 14, when they visit No. 21-ranked Duke.
After hosting the Fighting Irish, the Wolfpack will prepare for another home tilt against the VMI Keydets on Sept. 16.
