A college football team weirdly got into it with the marching band of their opponents before a recent fixture.
Morgan State University won its first game in over two months when they played Norfolk State last Saturday. A video posted to Facebook shows Bears players brawling with the Spartans’ band in what has to be one of the most bizarre college football encounters in recent memory.
According to HBCU Gameday, the two parties clashed after a player was hit by a flagpole while they were passing each other under the stands. Pushing and shoving ensued before a player threw punches at a member of the band.
This continued for several seconds before the two sides were eventually separated.
The Bears would end up wrecking Norfolk State’s Homecoming game, putting on a late surge to win 32-28.
“What transpired off the field is not reflective of what Morgan State University stands for or the core values it upholds,” a statement from Morgan State reads. “Our student-athletes are committed to behaving in a manner consistent with the expectations at the National Treasure.
