Former Missouri defensive back John Gibson died Friday, via the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
According to Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the former starter was shot and killed in Houston on Friday. He played for the Tigers from 2013-16 and appeared in 49 games.
Gibson, according to details on a GoFundMe page included by The Post-Dispatch, was “brutally murdered.”
His death is even more tragic when you realize he leaves behind four children, all five years old or younger.
“No words can truly express the pain his family and loved ones are enduring right now,” the statement from the GoFundMe page reads. “John also leaves behind four beautiful children aged six months to 5 years. If possible, and ONLY IF YOU CAN, please consider donating to help cover funeral expenses. Please keep the family in your prayers at this challenging time.”
