Smart move? Bush league? Both?
That’s what social media is debating during the Big 12 title game, as Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy utilized one of his trademark moves to sucker the Texas Longhorns into a penalty.
Late in the first half, with the Longhorns deep in OSU territory facing a fourth down, Texas lined up as if they were going to go for it. However, they made a late substitution, which afforded the Cowboys enough time in order to make a change of their own — as per the rulebook.
And with Gundy well aware of the rules and the fact that the play clock was winding down, the Cowboys coach took advantage, strolling his defensive substitutions out onto the field at a leisurely pace. That forced the official to keep his hand on the ball, eventually resulting in a delay of game on Texas.

The move worked out for Gundy, as the Longhorns were pushed back five yards and ended up missing the field-goal attempt, keeping the score at 35-14.
Still, the fans on social media were not impressed. Many accused Gundy of cheating, while some called it “bush league”:
The Longhorns still took a commanding 35-14 lead into the half. With a convincing win, they could book themselves a spot in the College Football Playoff’s final four.
