Jim Harbaugh has made an official decision on his future amid speculation he might leave Michigan.
The head coach fell short in his attempt to reach the CFP National Championship, shockingly losing to TCU on the last day of December. Since then, it’s been rumored that a return to the NFL could be on the cards, despite Harbaugh reiterating his commitment to the program.
On Monday, Santa Ono, the school’s president, took to Twitter to reveal the head coach will be staying put, following a personal conversation between the two.
“I just got off the phone with Coach Harbaugh and Jim shared with me the great news that he is going to remain as the Head Coach of the Michigan Wolverines,” Ono wrote. “That is fantastic news that I have communicated to our Athletic Director Warde Manuel.”
Finally, Some Good News For Michigan
While concessions and contract details still haven’t been ironed out, this is a major relief for the Wolverines.
It’s been a rough period for Harbaugh and Michigan. Following their disappointment against the Horned Frogs, a few players have surprisingly hit the transfer portal, while the NCAA has levied level I and II sanctions against the program.
