Michigan, one of the most polarizing programs in college football this season because of its involvement in an alleged off-campus sign-stealing scheme, has won the National Championship.
No. 1 Michigan beat No. 2 Washington on Monday night inside NRG Stadium in Houston.
J.J. McCarthy helped lead the Wolverines to a 27-20 overtime victory against Alabama in the Rose Bowl as the program clinched a berth in the CFP national championship game for the first time in history. He then helped the team to a 34-13 win over the Washington Huskies.
Almost immediately, comments about the championship as well as the entire 2023 season being vaavted started being talked about it due to the massive investigation over cheating. Many came out and voiced their displeasure surrounding a team, head coach, and program that is still being investigated for sign-stealing allegations and how it played a part in this three-year run that ended with a trophy.
