Sherrone Moore and the Michigan Wolverines must fill another job vacancy that just abruptly opened up.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Michigan Wolverines director of player personnel Tom Gamble is leaving the football program to return to the NFL. Gamble will work in the Jacksonville Jaguars front office under general manager Trent Baalke.
Moore was named the new head coach of the Wolverines after Jim Harbaugh left Ann Arbor to take the Los Angeles Chargers’ head coaching vacancy. Defensive coordinator Jesse Minter also left Michigan to take the DC position in La La Land under Harbaugh.
Harbaugh coached the Michigan Wolverines from 2015 to 2023 following a successful four-year run as the San Franciso 49es’ head coach. Harbaugh led the Wolverines to a national championship victory over the Washington Huskies in his final season with the program before bolting for Los Angeles.
Moore was previously the co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for Michigan. He was the acting head coach for three games last season while Harbaugh served a suspension over the infamous sign-stealing scandal.

Michigan Wolverines Aim For Back-To-Back Championships
With Harbaugh leaving for the Chargers, it’s a brand new era of Michigan Wolverines football under Sherrone Moore.
Aside from the departures of Harbaugh, Minter and Gamble, starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy, running back Blake Corum and wide receiver Roman Wilson are among the Wolverines’ top players who are NFL-bound, with the draft just two weeks away.
With Moore now running the program, Michigan will try to follow the footsteps of the 2021 and 2022 Georgia Bulldogs by pulling off the rare feat of repeating as national champions.
The Wolverines will begin their national championship defense when they open the 2024 season against Fresno State at Michigan Stadium on Aug. 31.
