In the latest shoe to drop in the ongoing off-the-field issues at Michigan, another person on the coaching staff has been let go.
Michigan has fired linebackers coach Chris Partridge effective immediately, the school announced on Friday.
The Wolverines didn’t publicly provide a reason for the move, but it comes after Michigan leaders were presented with new evidence in the NCAA’s investigation into the program’s alleged sign-stealing scheme, reports Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports.
“Effective today, Chris Partridge has been relieved of his duties as a member of the Michigan football staff. Rick Minter will serve as the team’s linebackers coach,” Athletic Director Warde Manuel said.
Partridge returned to Michigan for the 2023 season and helped the Wolverines build one of the nation’s best defenses so this is a huge loss. The team has allowed only 7.5 points per game this campaign, the best mark in the country.

Defensive analyst Rick Minter will step into an on-field role and serve as the team’s linebackers coach moving forward.
Partridge is the second Michigan assistant to leave the school since the NCAA began looking into the Wolverines in the wake of sign-stealing allegations.
Connor Stalions, who is alleged to be the mastermind, resigned from his position on Nov. 3rd.
