The Michigan State Spartans have announced suspensions for the four players who were involved in a physical altercation on Saturday after the loss to the rival Michigan Wolverines.
Footage shows four Spartan players attacking Wolverines defensive back Ja’Den McBurrows in the tunnel after the game. Thankfully, McBurrows wasn’t seriously injured. Spartans players then proceeded to gradually walk to the locker room after the incident.
On Sunday, Michigan State announced suspensions for the four players involved, per ESPN’s Tom VanHaaren. Those players are cornerback Khary Crump, defensive end Zion Young, linebacker Tank Brown and safety Angelo Grose.
The length of the suspensions wasn’t immediately specified. It was only noted that the four players have been suspended “indefinitely”.
Per VanHaaren, separate video showed a Spartans player (not yet identified) swinging a helmet at Wolverines cornerback Gemon Green. The University of Michigan Police are investigating the post-game altercation.
The No. 4 ranked Wolverines soundly defeated their rivals 29-7 at Michigan Stadium on Saturday. J.J. McCarthy of Michigan completed 15 of 25 pass attempts for 167 yards and one touchdown to go along with seven catches for 50 yards.

The Michigan defense and ground game mostly carried the way on Saturday. The Wolverines rushed for a whopping 276 yards on 52 carries (led by Blake Corum’s 177 on 33 carries). Michigan’s defense allowed only 252 yards of offense on the day, and the Spartans held the ball for just 19:27.
Saturday’s win over the Spartans moved the Wolverines to a perfect 8-0 on the season. They’ll look to remain perfect with a road game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights this Saturday.
It’s been a frustrating season for the Spartans, who find themselves sitting at 3-5 following a 2-0 start to the year. One week after defeating Wisconsin 34-28 in overtime, the Spartans came into Michigan Stadium and proved to be practically no match for their rivals.
The Spartans visit the No. 14 ranked Illinois Fighting Illini on Saturday.
