After three years with the Michigan Football program, one player on the team has to end his college career for good, but it isn’t because they are on their way to the next level.
Michigan running back Isaiah Gash was entering his fourth season as a Wolverine after he started his career as a walk-on.
His hard work paid off when head coach John Harbaugh announced that Gash earned a scholarship entering his senior year on the team. However, on Monday, Gash posted on TikTok that he was getting career-ending knee surgery.
“2nd cartilage transplant surgery,” he announced.
Gash, a walk-on in 2020, saw no game action during his freshman season at Michigan. Gash appeared in two games his sophomore year and finished the season with six carries for 17 yards, earning his first varsity letter.

During his junior season in 2022, he contributed significantly offensively and in special teams. Gash was named Michigan’s Offensive Player of the Week after his effort against Illinois.
Michigan supporters will remember Gash for his performance against Illinois, which kept the Wolverines’ unbeaten season alive. Michigan faced fourth down on the Illini 45-yard line and threw a ball to Gash for a first down to keep the Wolverines’ season alive.
Gash finishes his Michigan career as a two-time letterman and he was an Academic All-Big Ten honoree in 2021.
Prayers up for his recovery and whatever he plans to do with the rest of his life going forward.
