The Miami Hurricanes’ offensive linemen did so well with their blocking on a passing play that Cam Ward got to stand frozen in the pocket for several seconds before completing a pass.
Cam Ward and the Hurricanes went up against the Iowa State Cyclones in the Pop-Tarts Bowl at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, looking to end their thrilling 2024 season on a winning note.
On one offensive play, Ward took the snap and patiently waited while the Cyclones’ three-man rush gave him all day to throw. He even got to stand still for a second before checking it down:

That’s a count of five Mississippis between the time Cam Ward took the snap and the time he got rid of it. Hopefully he gave his offensive linemen some nice holiday gifts, seeing how Ward was only sacked 22 times in the regular season.

The 2025 NFL Draft isn’t considered deep for quarterbacks, but Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders have elite skill sets that will make them early selections. If they land in the right systems, both should enjoy immediate success in the NFL.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper listed Ward as the No. 5 prospect on his latest NFL draft big board. Seeing how many bottom-feeders will need a new quarterback in 2025, nobody should be surprised if Ward is a top-five pick.
