College safety Avantae Williams has been arrested by the Miami-Dade Police and he has since been dismissed by the University of Miami football program over some disturbing charges.
The 20-year-old freshman was arrested Wednesday night and faces a charge of aggravated battery on a pregnant victim. Police said Williams was involved in a fight with his ex-girlfriend, who is 31 weeks pregnant with his child.
The police report says he grabbed the victim by her hair and threw her to the ground multiple times. The victim was taken to the hospital.
“Even if she calls you up and wants to get together, you can’t go near her,” Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Mindy S. Glazer said. “If anybody sees you with her, you would be in violation of the stay away order, and you can be rearrested. All right, and you could face additional charges. If you get rearrested, you’re going to have to stay in jail until your trial.”
The woman, according to the report, said she and Williams were arguing about his involvement with another woman when Williams said, “When I return from practice, you need to be gone.”
“She was in her bedroom packing her things to leave when Williams returned from practice, the woman said. According to the report, Williams was angry that she was still in the residence, grabbed her by her hair and threw her onto the bed, grabbed her again and threw her to the ground, and then picked her up and threw her to the ground outside the residence, where she hit her head, before contacting a neighbor and calling 911.
The woman was taken to a hospital for evaluation. The report states she suffered multiple bruises to her arms and a minor bruise to her neck.”
