Going at Deion Sanders just does not seem like a stout business decision.
Sanders has been making a ton of noise since his arrival at Colorado and he has yet to coach a single game. He is now getting shots taken at him by another coach.
During his spring game press conference over the weekend, Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule appeared to take a shot at Colorado head coach Deion Sanders over his excitement about the transfer portal.
Colorado’s Twitter account tweeted about the spring window being open and that “Coach Prime ain’t hard to find.”
Rhule seemingly saw that post and made a curious remark.
“I hear other schools talking about how they can’t wait for today and the transfer portal. I can’t wait to coach my guys. I’m not thinking about anybody else but this team that’s out here,” Rhule said.

While he didn’t directly mention Sanders, Colorado and Sanders himself have made it known over the past couple of weeks that when the portal was open they will be active again. Five players from his own team have jumped in that portal in less than 24 hours.
Sanders was announced as the new head football coach of Jackson State University in 2020. His signing generated a lot of buzz in the sports world, as he brought a high profile and celebrity status to Jackson State. Sanders’ arrival at Jackson State was seen as a major coup for the school, as he brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to the program.
In his first season as head coach in 2021, Sanders led Jackson State to an 11-2 record, including a victory in the SWAC Championship Game. The team would repeat as champions the very next season as well.
Despite his coaching career ending with a loss, Deion Sanders’ appointment as head coach of Jackson State has been viewed as a positive development for the program and for HBCU athletics as a whole.
He now has a tall task to get the Colorado Buffaloes back into the national picture.
