A couple of years ago, the NCAA finally changed its rules to allow college athletes to make money and profit off of their Name, Image and Likeness. This has been a real game changer as now collegiate athletes are more likely to stay in school and finish their education, rather than jump to the professional ranks where they have millions of dollars waiting for them.
One of this years most highly touted prospects is Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., son of former Indianapolis Colts and Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison. Harrison Jr. is coming off another massive season where he recorded 67 receptions for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns. He would easily be a top five pick in next years NFL Draft, but according to ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit, there is no guarantee Harrison will declare himself eligible for the Draft.
If Harrison were to return for one more year at Ohio State, he would no doubt command a huge amount of money, reportedly upwards of $10 million which would be record setting. However, Harrison Jr. would also have a large pay day waiting for him should he enter the NFL Draft. Needless to say, by this time next year, no matter what he decides, Harrison will be a very rich young man.
Ohio State finished up the season at 11-1 but failed to make the BIG Ten Championship Game after losing to Michigan last week by a score of 30-24. The Buckeyes still have a very remote chance to make the College Football Playoff, but would need an extraordinary amount of help this weekend to make it in.
