Marquise Goodwin joined a host of players from across the league when he decided to opt out of playing football in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Philadelphia Eagles receiver further explained his reasoning in a lengthy post on his Instagram profile.
On Wednesday, Goodwin took to Twitter to state how some fans weren’t cool with his stance on opting out and actually calling him stupid for taking the coronavirus seriously.
“I’ve gotten so many messages and @‘s from “concerned” fans telling me how stupid I am and that this COVID-19 isn’t that serious… I bet my bank account that there are 150k dead people that would argue different. #CarryOn”
The Eagles acquired Goodwin from the San Francisco 49ers in April. In 2019 with the 49ers, he had 12 receptions for 186 yards over the course of a nine-game, injury-shortened season.
