The Bluffton University football team delighted its Homecoming crowd with a 50-12 dismantling of Manchester University on Saturday, but the outcome of the game became a footnote to what happened on the field.
Saturday’s Division III college football game between the two squads turned into a royal rumble when fists began to fly.
The final 90 seconds of play were hectic as a Manchester wide receiver ran full speed to deliver a late hit and kick to Bluffton linebacker Travion Curry.
Multiple teammates ran to Curry’s defense as more players moved in to join the melee.
The refereeing crew met with both head coaches and decided that the game should end right there.
That Manchester wide receiver is certain to be suspended if not kicked off the team for his actions.
