The LSU Tigers and Florida State Seminoles will be soon matching up against each other to kick off their seasons which will be a huge game that has College Football Playoff implications.
The Tigers are ranked No. 5 heading into the game, but they were dealt a huge blow as they will not have one of their best players on the field.
The NCAA has suspended star defensive tackle Maason Smith for the game. According to reports, the NCAA says that Smith received an improper benefit.
It is unclear when the incident occurred.
This really sucks for Smith as he missed all of last season after tearing his ACL celebrating after a play in the season opener against the Seminoles.
Last year, the Seminoles left Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with a 24-23 nail-biting victory over the Tigers from a blocked field goal by safety Shyheim Brown as the seconds dwindled in the fourth quarter. Smith suffered a season-ending ACL injury in that matchup early on and could not participate in the loss.

Now he will miss the second matchup between the teams.
The game is expected to be a blockbuster as it is the only top-10 game on opening weekend, building a taste for excitement amongst fans to see the two historic programs collide on the gridiron to start the season.
