Another one of the many big-name quarterbacks who entered the transfer portal this month has found a new home.
Former Texas Longhorns quarterback Maalik Murphy announced that he was entering the transfer portal a few weeks ago, as he no longer wanted to sit behind Quinn Ewers and possibly even Arch Manning in the pecking order on the Longhorns’ QB depth chart.
After some careful consideration, it appears as though Murphy has decided where he’ll be playing ball in 2024.
According to a report from Pete Thamel, Murphy has “verbally committed” to Duke, with a formal announcement expected to be made soon.
Murphy will be allowed to play for the Blue Devils immediately, and has three years of eligibility remaining.
Murphy was ranked 250th on ESPN’s overall rankings for the class of 2022 before he joined Texas. As such, he becomes the highest-ranked quarterback to join Duke since ESPN began ranking players in 2006.
