LSU star wide receiver Malik Nabers has been arrested and charged for carrying an illegal weapon.
The 6-foot-tall, 195-pound Nabers broke out for the Tigers last season by racking up 1,017 yards on72 receptions to go along with three touchdowns. In 2021, Nabers had 28 receptions for 417 yards and four touchdowns.
Per ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Nabers was arrested on Monday in New Orleans, Louisiana for carrying the illegal weapon.
Another report from Gabriella Killett and Wilson Alexander of NOLA.com stated that the 19-year-old Nabers was arrested when patrol officers spotted an “L-shaped object” in the pocket of his pants.
Per the report from NOLA.com, Nabers told officers that he did not have a permit to carry the weapon when questioned. Police took the gun away for evidence, the New Orleans Police Department announced (per NOLA.com).
Nabers formed a dynamic receiving tandem alongside Kayshon Boutte, who declared for the NFL Draft back in late December. The 20-year-old Boutte finished his final NCAA season with 48 catches for 538 yards and two touchdowns.With Boutte ready to turn professional, Nabers could have a much larger role on the Tigers’ offense in 2022.
