LSU women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey has delivered a massive update on the status of Angel Reese following the star’s very notable absence in recent weeks.
Mulkey addressed reporters on Wednesday afternoon, for the first time since the Tigers’ trip to the Cayman Islands. And, while she didn’t have a lot to say about Reese, her revelation was a huge one.
With the team scheduled to play ninth-ranked Virginia Tech on Thursday night, fans were wondering whether Reese might be in action. Turns out, she is.
“She will play tomorrow,” Mulkey told the media, per Brett Martel of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Neither Reese nor teammate Kateri Poole traveled with the team. Reese has been absent since November 14 while Poole has been a no-show since November 20. Poole isn’t returning just yet and, though her absence hasn’t gotten as much coverage as Reese’s, there are lots of questions.
“Let’s just leave it at that. Kateri is not with us right now,” Mulkey remarked.

There’s been no explanation as it pertains to the absence of either player. While Reese is set to return to the team, the mystery remains.
