LSU is set to lose another one of its top players ahead of the 2024 season.
The Tigers managed to pull off a thrilling win over Wisconsin in Monday’s ReliaQuest Bowl, coming back from 14-point deficits on two occasions without star quarterback Jayden Daniels.
The reigning Heisman has played his last game in Tigers colors, having declared for the NFL Draft. The program is also going to be without five-star freshman Zalance Heard. According to Pete Nakos of On3, the offensive tackle is hitting the transfer portal after playing as a backup in 2023.
Heard was propositioned by other top schools, including Nebraska, Baylor, and Florida ahead of of his decision to join the Tigers. So it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
Most players opt to enter the portal before their team’s bowl game, but Heard strangely chose to stick with the team until the end of the season, which is rare nowadays. He will need to make a decision quickly, though, given that schools are already going through the business of filling their roster spots.
Still, he is a former five-star recruit and isn’t expected to have difficulty landing at most programs.
