Louisiana Tigers women’s basketball head coach Kim Mulkey got testy with a reporter following his question about the status of superstar Angel Reese.
Reese has missed the Tigers’ last two games, and neither Reese nor the club has provided a reason why. There are unconfirmed reports that Reese has been suspended because of her academic performances, but this is merely speculation.
In a video shared by Cory Diaz of The Daily Advertiser, you can see Mulkey growing tense when a reporter asked about the status of Reese. Once again, Mulkey didn’t offer any hints nor an explanation behind Reese’s absence.
“You’re not entitled to that information,” Mulkey said. “Angel is not in uniform tonight. Angel is a part of this basketball team, and Angel be back sooner than later.”
The 21-year-old Reese played an instrumental role in helping the Tigers win the school’s first women’s basketball national championship last season. LSU defeated Iowa 102-85 in the championship game, with Reese tallying 15 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
The 6-foot-3 Reese is off to another strong start for the Tigers this year, averaging 17 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game while making 46.9 percent of her shots from the field. The Tigers (currently ranked No. 5 in the nation) are off to a 5-1 start, having defeated Texas Southern 106-47 on Monday.
