LSU Tigers’ star Angel Reese and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden had a heartwarming moment together during the NCAA team’s visit to the White House.
In April, Biden made headlines when she suggested that the Iowa Hawkeyes — whom the Tigers defeated in the women’s national championship game — should also be invited to the White House.
Traditionally, only the championship-winning teams get invited to the White House. Reese later stated that she would not accept an invitation the White House if the Hawkeyes were also invited, and the first lady wound up walking back her idea about the runner-ups receiving an invitation.
On Friday, the Reese and the Tigers made their trip to the White House. In the clip below, you can see the heartwarming moment where Reese and Biden shared a hug:
Reese led the Tigers’ women’s basketball team to their first ever championship this year. The Tigers soundly defeated the slightly-favored Hawkeyes by a final score of 102-85, with Reese tallying 15 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
Jasmine Carson led the Tigers in scoring that game with 22 points to go along with three rebounds and one assist. LaDazhia Williams had 20 points and five rebounds, while Alexis Morris just missed out on a double-double with 21 points, nine assists and two rebounds.
