It did not look good when Texas Longhorns pitcher Miranda Elish went down after unexpectedly taking a softball to the face.
The incident occurred during last night’s NCAA Super Regional matchup between the Longhorns and the Alabama Crimson Tide. After scooping up an attempted sacrifice bunt, the Texas catcher tried to get the force out at second, but ended up accidentally throwing the ball at Elish’s face instead.
Elish was taken to the hospital, but judging by this tweet released earlier today by Longhorns coach Mike White, Miranda has since been released and she’s in pretty good spirits…and a little swollen.
In case you missed it, here’s another look at the play. Great to see Miranda’s doing so well just one day after such a scary incident.
