Remember the name Jay Spencer. The senior at St. John Paul II Catholic High School in Alabama just became the first wrestler in school history to win a state title Saturday.
The accomplishment was grand enough, but it’s even more miraculous when you count in the fact that Spencer is legally blind.
Spencer was diagnosed with an inherited retinal degenerative disease when he was 3 years old, according to Daniel Boyette of AL.com.
Spencer shared this message with WZDX News after winning the championship: “Don’t let what anyone thinks about you change how you think. As long as you believe you can do something, then you can.”
