Notre Dame fans were thrilled over the team’s win over No. 1 Clemson in two overtimes on Saturday night in South Bend, Indiana.
They were so happy that they all came from out of the stands to actually rush the field….during a pandemic.
That was Notre Dame’s first win at home over a No. 1 team since their victory over Florida State in 1993.
That didn’t matter to NBA champion and Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James who was one of many people to weigh in on the alarming scene via social media.
“So it’s ok for fans to storm the field but not ok at the same time to have fans??? I’m confused,” James tweeted after the game.

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said he warned his team prior to kickoff that storming the field could be an issue:
“I had told our team, and again, I’m doing a lot of things I probably shouldn’t be doing, but I told our team at our walkthrough today, I said, ‘Listen, I just want you to know, when we win this thing, the fans are going to storm the field and with COVID being is as it is, we got to get off the field and get to the tunnel’,” Kelly said. “Now I beat them all to the tunnel, so that didn’t go over so good.
“But they reminded me that I did tell them that. My skills of prognostications was pretty good today.”
Now it’s going to be a wait and see type of scenario to see how bad things might get.
