Eight schools have been listed as potential destinations for Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord now that he’s entered the transfer portal.
The starting QB has opted to leave the Buckeyes following a disappointing end to the 2023 season and is expected to have plenty of suitors given his experience. In the meantime, Brad Crawford of 247 Sports has named eight programs that could serve as a landing spot for the wantaway player.
McCord ended the season with 3,170 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and six interceptions, with Ohio State going 11-1. While he isn’t of the ilk of some of the best QBs in the NCAA, Crawford notes that there are plenty of schools that would be “thrilled” to have him.

He reckons a move to the Cornhuskers could be a very positive one for the signal-caller as Nebraska should be looking to the transfer portal for a new QB after playing through one of its worst seasons in recent memory.

“Nebraska projects to go transfer portal-digging for a quarterback after coming off one of its worst statistical seasons offensively in decades under a first-year coaching staff. Turnovers were an issue at the position for play-caller Marcus Satterfield, whose unit never found its rhythm and scored just 10 points in the season finale with a chance to go bowling.
“With the roster in flux at the position, Nebraska seeks a player in the portal who arrives in the spring with intention on earning first-team reps, which is what McCord would provide.”
We might be about to witness one of the most intriguing transfer periods soon enough as the Buckeyes are now also in the market for a quarterback.
