Temple quarterback E.J. Warner had a big announcement this week.
The son of former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner took to social media site X to state that he will be entering the transfer portal.
“I’m entering the portal with two years of eligibility remaining and look forward to where this incredible journey takes me next,” Warner wrote.
“I’m forever grateful to Temple University, Coach Drayton, and Coach Langsdorf for the opportunity they gave me to pursue my dream of playing college football,” Warner wrote. “Knowing the belief they had in me and wanting to help them bring back the winning ways of Temple Football is what makes this so tough.”
The sophomore signal career and son of Pro Football Hall of Fame QB Kurt Warner became Temple’s starter in the third game of his freshman year.
Elijah “EJ” Warner played in 21 games over two seasons and completed 59 percent of his passes for 6,104 yards and 41 touchdowns with 24 interceptions. Warner was sacked just 16 times in 21 games and 888 pass attempts. Across that same time period, Temple’s other quarterbacks were sacked 11 times in 104 pass attempts.

With Warner moving on, Temple has three quarterbacks set to return next season with junior college transfer Forrest Brock and freshmen Tyler Douglas and Patrick Keller.
Warner likely will be a highly sought-after player in the transfer portal. He entered the season on the Maxwell Award watch list, given to the most outstanding player in college football.
Warner, who played high school ball at Brophy College Prep in Phoenix, Ariz., has two more years of college eligibility.
