Colorado and new coach Deion Sanders are starting from the bottom in 2023.
Before Deion’s arrival, nobody had any expectations for the program but things quickly changed once he came aboard. Since his arrival, almost 60 players have left the program, which was expected after he warned them during his meeting with them. He has also brought in top talent from around the country as well.
The talent has fans excited as well as others who weren’t expected to be excited about having Colorado on their schedule.
College GameDay’s Kirk Herbstreit revealed this week that other teams are actually excited about playing Colorado this season.
“Without naming names, I do know that there are a lot of Pac-12 coaches that are anxious to play Colorado,” Herbstreit said on The Pat McAfee Show, (first transcribed by On3). “I think there are a lot of people that are excited. That’s what makes it so exciting is there are a lot of people — before, you didn’t even know Colorado was playing. And now, every week, you’re gonna be like, ‘Who is Colorado playing this week?’ I’m very, very intrigued to see what happens with him not just this year, but in the future.”
In the wake of last season’s disaster, however, Colorado’s 2023 season opener takes place in front of a national TV audience. The Buffaloes are scheduled to begin the ’23 season with TCU, a team that made the College Football Playoff, won the Fiesta Bowl, and played for the national championship.

The game kicks off a tough opening month for Colorado, which will host Nebraska and Colorado State before Pac-12 play with Oregon in Eugene and USC at home.
TCU defeated the Buffaloes 38–13 last year in Boulder in the first meeting between the two teams.
All eyes will be on what Sanders can do in his very first game.
