Kim Mulkey’s exploits as the head coach of the Louisianna State University Tigers have seen her land a whopping $32 million deal from the program, per Nola.com.
Mulkey has usurped the likes of Dawn Staley and Geno Auriemma to become the highest-paid coach in NCAA women’s basketball history.
“LSU and Kim Mulkey have agreed to a contract extension that will make her the highest-paid women’s basketball coach in the nation, according to a term sheet The Advocate obtained Wednesday through a public records request,” the report from the aforementioned source reads.
The 61-year-old took over the women’s program at LSU back in 2021 and led them to the national title this year. Nola reports the deal is good for the next 10 years, with Mulkey’s salary set to rise from $2.5 million to $2.75 million annually. She will be paid $3.65 million in the final year.
The deal still needs to be approved by the school, but that’s thought to be a foregone conclusion. And, once it happens, it will mark the largest contract in women’s college basketball history.
Auriemma was handed an extension from UConn worth $15 million in 2021 while Staley signed a seven-year, $22.4 million contract that year as well.

Mulkey’s deal has been announced on the back of her leading the Tigers to their first title in April. It was her fourth NCAA title win as a head coach as she coached the Baylor Bears to three.
