Florida forward Keyontae Johnson was released from the hospital Tuesday after his terrifying collapse on the court just over a week ago.
However, he will not return to the court this season.
Johnson’s family announced the news that in a statement on Tuesday morning, and asked for patience regarding his “illness.”
Unfortunately, according to a new report, the 21-year-old has been diagnosed with a heart condition. Zach Abolverdi of the Gainesville Sun reported doctors diagnosed Johnson with acute myocarditis.
“Following the collapse that left Johnson unresponsive, he was transferred last Monday from Tallahassee Memorial to UF Health in Gainesville, where an MRI on his heart led to a diagnosis of acute myocarditis, according to a person with first-hand knowledge. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensibility of the situation.”
Before the 2020-21 college basketball season kicked off, Johnson reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.
