Xavier Townsend-Keith had dreams of one day making it to the National Football League. Unfortunately, that day will never happen as he lost his life due to senseless gun violence.
The KC football player was said to be walking his girlfriend to a bus stop near his mother’s home.
The 23-year-old football player, who was playing football for the KC Legions, a semi-pro football team, had his life stolen from him after walking his girlfriend to a bus stop.
Police reportedly responded to a shooting on May 28th on the intersection of East 51st Street and Prospect Avenue when they found the Platte County Varsity Football star lying on the sidewalk near the bus stop in need of immediate help.
Unfortunately, Xavier Townsend-Keith would succumb to his injuries of being shot multiple times and pass away.
Kansascity.com reported that Rashawnda Perry-Townsend, his mother, heard the shots and immediately called Xavier to ensure he was okay.
A stranger ended up picking up the phone and informing her that her son had been shot. She would then run from her home to get to him. She spoke with her son as he lay on the ground.

“Xavier, breathe, just breathe,” Perry-Townsend told him. “Mommy’s here.”

Police would not allow her to ride in the ambulance with him. She was informed he was still alive during the ride, but died once they arrived at the hospital.

Xavier Townsend-Keith, 23, had more life to live but unfortunately won’t be able to do it after he was shot and killed while walking his girlfriend to a bus stop.
Unfortunately, he did not have life insurance, and his mother, Rashawnda Perry-Townsend, would create a GoFundMe to help pay for expenses related to his death.
