Julian Sayin is taking his talents elsewhere in the aftermath of Nick Saban’s retirement.
Sayin signed with Alabama in December but entered the transfer portal on Friday following the coaching change in Tuscaloosa.
Julian Sayin, the No. 1 quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class, is transferring to Ohio State from Alabama before ever playing a snap for the Crimson Tide.
“Former Alabama quarterback Julian Sayin told ESPN on Sunday that he’s transferring to Ohio State. Sayin is ESPN’s top quarterback recruit in the 2024 class and No. 3 overall player. He’ll enroll soon at OSU and compete in spring practice,” he reported.
The Gatorade California Football Player of the Year is the second quarterback to transfer to Ohio State this offseason, joining former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard.
Sayin finished the 2024 recruiting cycle as the No. 1 quarterback and No. 5 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Sayin, who was voted MVP of the previous year’s Elite 11 Finals, was regarded by many as the best pure passer in the 2024 class because of his reliable ability to throw the ball accurately and quickly to any part of the field.
In his four-year career at Carlsbad High School in California, Sayin completed 70.6% of his passing attempts (511 of 724) for 7,970 yards and 86 touchdowns with only 10 interceptions.
When needed to use his feet, he also rushed for 605 yards and nine touchdowns across his four years.
