Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh was asked about the Los Angeles Chargers vacancy while speaking to reporters on Wednesday.
Harbaugh has shown no indication of wanting to leave the University of Michigan but continues to be linked with the NFL as three coaching jobs need filling at the pro level, with the Carolina Panthers and Las Vegas Raiders also firing coaches in 2023.
Harbaugh has been tipped for the Chargers job as he is known to have strong admiration for quarterback Justin Herbert. He was asked about it while at a press conference on Thursday but did not allow himself to be drawn in, given that the Wolverines are set for a CFP semi-final clash with Alabama on New Year’s Day.
“It’s just a very one-track mind about this game,” he replied.
“Right now, just having fun with the family and the team and the players. We’re at the happiest place on Earth. We’re going to enjoy ourselves and then get back to business.
“One day at a time, one play at a time. That’s how we’re approaching each day.”

Reports indicate that Michigan wants to tie the head coach down to a 10-year deal worth $125 million on the condition that he will not entertain or seek NFL offers.
The Big Ten side will face the Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl on the first day of 2024 and, should they progress, will play either Texas or Washington.
