As Black Monday and the days following claimed its victims across the NFL, Jim Harbaugh saw himself being showered in maize and blue confetti in Houston after leading Michigan to a National Championship after the team defeated the Washington Huskies.
Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh is generating a lot of buzz around the NFL as many expect him to leave the program amid a massive cheating scandal from the NCAA.
There have been whispers for years about a possible return to the big leagues for him, but it appears he might not be the only one from his staff to leave.
“Jesse Minter, the defensive coordinator for Michigan, is one hell of a coach,” said Fox Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt on his post-national championship recap show.
“He’s a young guy and there’s a good chance that he’s going to be in the NFL really soon,” Klatt said.
“I think that’s where he wants to end up eventually, although that would be a huge miss for college football.”
Minter helped lead one of the best defenses in the country this season.
The Giants are in the market for a new defensive coordinator after the resignation of Wink Martindale and Mintr could easily fill the position.
Minter has been the defensive coordinator for the maize & blue for the past two seasons. In 2022, the unit was seventh-best in the country by allowing just 16.1 points and under 300 yards per game. In 2023, those numbers were even better.
