LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels has made a huge announcement on his future following his capture of the Heisman Trophy this year.
Daniels will skip the Tigers’ ReliaQuest Bowl showdown against Wisconsin on January 1 as he is intent on entering the 2024 NFL Draft.
The 23-year-old, who spent the last two years at LSU on the back of a transfer from Arizona State, took to social media on Monday to announce his decision, thanking the Tigers and their fans for the wonderful campaign he had in 2023.
“I want to say thank you to everyone who made this happen, but all great things must come to an end,” he said. “I feel better about the state of the program with the quarterback moving forward. No matter what, I promise this will not be the last time y’all see That Kid around, because this is my city and my second home.”
ESPN NFL Draft analyst and insider Mel Kiper Jr. has Daniels down as the third-best quarterback prospect and the No. 4 overall pick on his draft board.
Daniels registered 3,812 passing yards and 40 touchdowns this season, adding another 1,134 yards and 10 scores from the ground. He surprisingly beat the likes of Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. and Ohio State Marvin Harrison Jr. for the prestigious Heisman and is now set to take his talent to the pros.
