Deion Sanders told reporters God would give him a reason to make it personal against Colorado State ahead of their matchup.
Well, it’s personal now.
Rams head coach Jay Norvell seemingly wasn’t keen on leaving things in God’s hands and has decided to give Coach Prime a reason himself.
Speaking in a presser earlier this week, Deion responded to a reporter who noted what made the game against Nebraska personal and asked him what the reason would be heading into their third game of the season. Sanders admitted that he didn’t have a reason to light a fire under his team at the time but was sure God would show him what it was.
Enter Jay Norvell…
Sanders was pretty respectful when asked for his thoughts on the Colorado State HC, claiming to have only heard good things. But the 60-year-old took a direct shot at Prime this Thursday, criticizing his attire during interviews.
“I sat down with ESPN today,” he said. “I don’t care if they hear it in Boulder. I told them, I took my hat off and I took my glasses off. I said when I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat off and my glasses off. That’s what my mother taught me. (Colorado’s) not going to like us no matter what we say or do.”

Sanders typically wears both hats and sunglasses during press conferences, so there’s little guessing to do here.
Taking such a shot at an opposing coach is out of character for Norvell – it appears he’s trying to create some buzz in the buildup. But it might only serve to get his Rams team thrashed.
