Jason Garrett’s second season in the booth has gotten off to a rocky start.
It seems like the former NFL head coach, who now works as an analyst for NBC, may have ruined the return of college football for a great many fans, having called the game between Notre Dame and Navy this Saturday.
Garrett works alongside Jae Collinsworth for NBC’s Fighting Irish coverage but was with Noah Eagle on the day as Collinsworth was ill.
Fans were done with him quite early and he trended on X, with various users spewing on how bad he was. They made a note of pointing out a number of his gaffes, with one referencing his claim stating that Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman had not played with a running back as good as Audric Estime.
It would be difficult to find someone who agrees with the notion given that Hartman played with Kenneth Walker III at Wake Forest.
He brought up Navy’s “mental toughness” countless times, though they got blown out with a 42-3 scoreline.
Generally, fans couldn’t stand the lack of enthusiasm from the ex-Cowboys and Giants coach.

In his defense, the fixture was hardly competitive and it would have been hard for anyone to make it sound exciting. Still, Garrett will want to do a lot better on his next try.
