New Orleans Saints quarterback and former Florida State University star Jameis Winston offered a powerful message for Seminoles’ QB Jordan Travis after the latter suffered a gruesome injury on Saturday.
Travis was injured in the first quarter of the Seminoles’ home game against North Alabama on a running play and had to be carted off. After the game, head coach Mike Norvell stated there was no immediate update on Travis.
Winston was in attendance to watch the Seminoles retire his No. 5. Per Kade Kimble of NoleGameDay from FanNation of Sports Illustrated, Winston offered a powerful message of support to Travis following the latter’s injury.
“I just want to continue to encourage him to stay resilient and continue to persevere. He’s the epitome of that with his college football career…I’m grateful to be rocking his jersey. The significance of his number, with us winning a championship in 2013, with him being one of the best quarterbacks this year. I just want to continue to lift him up….Just stay resilient. He’s going to be fine, I know he will.”
The Seminoles trailed 13-0 in the first quarter, but the team rallied around backup Tate Rodemaker and racked up 58 unanswered points en route to a 45-point victory. The No. 4 ranked Seminoles will try to improve to 12-0 when they visit the Florida Gators next Saturday.
