The UConn Star Paige Bueckers recently shouldered the blame for her team’s loss against Caitlin Clarks Iowa Hawkeyes in the final four of the 2024 Women’s NCAA tournament. There was a controversial offensive foul in the final moments of the game that secured Iowa their win.
UConn were down by a point in the final moments and the Huskies were trying their best to get the basket. Aaliyah Edwards was called out for an illegal screen, and Clark made one of her two free throws giving Iowa the edge to secure the win.

UConn vs Iowa was a thrilling match to witness for the fans, a lot of drama evolved in the final seconds of the game. Iowa led by Caitlin Clark was able to secure the win with a final score of 71-69 and the UConn fans were left disappointed. Paige Bueckers discussed the crucial final play in a post-game conference and shouldered the responsibility for her team’s loss.
“Everybody can make a big deal of that one single play, but no one single play wins a basketball game or loses a basketball game. I made a lot of mistakes that could have prevented that play from becoming so big,” said Piage. She highlighted that no single play in a game can alter the result of a basketball game, however, also admitted that she could have stopped that play and failed to do so.

Caitlin Clark has been the hero of this year’s Women’s NCAA Tournament, she has been incredible for her team this entire tournament and has gathered a lot of followers and spotlight. However, Clark is not going to be in Iowa forever. At some point, she has to make the move to the WNBA or some other league to progress in her career. She even received a big from Ice Spice who offered the Iowa star huge money to play in his league.

Fans also speculate that the Iowa star could declare for the WNBA draft soon. After her exit, the spotlight will most probably fall on Paige Bueckers. However, the UConn star has firmly denied her interest in any form of unwanted attention. In a press conference, she expressed her thoughts on becoming the star of Women’s college basketball.
“I honestly hope next year I am not the focal point and the only person that gets all attention. I hope as players, as media, we can spread the love a little bit more,” said Paige. She expressed her disinterest in becoming a focal point of all the attention and urged the fans, players, and media to spread love equally.
