A highly-touted NFL Draft prospect might end up sitting out the 2024 iteration as it’s thought that he could be after one more year of college football.
While the upcoming draft could feature one of the most impressive quarterback classes in recent history, Quinn Ewers, a projected first-round pick, might not declare.
According to a report from Orangebloods, the Texas Longhorns QB is likely to return for the 2024 season.
“An EF-Hutton level source mentioned to me on Sunday that there’s growing optimism that starting quarterback Quinn Ewers will return in 2024,” Geoff Ketchum, publisher for the Rivals.com site reports. From what I can gather, the fact that he’s not a lock to be among the top five or six quarterbacks at the 2024 Draft if he were to declare left him in a position where the smart play is to return for another year.
“In fact, the scuttlebutt relayed to me was that the folks in the quarterback room already have a decent idea that this is going to happen. Ultimately, no final decision will be made until after the season, but momentum seems to be pointing in the direction of a return at this very moment.”
Ewers was the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2021 class, committing to Texas before flipping to Ohio State. He spent one season with the Buckeyes before transferring to Texas.

Meanwhile, the Texas native returned from injury this weekend to throw for 317 yards on 23-of-33 passing and a touchdown in a win over TCU. Ewers has registered 2,232 passing yards, 14 touchdowns, and four interceptions this season.
That he might stick around will not be welcome news as far as Arch Manning is concerned as rumors have suggested that he could be looking to transfer at the end of the season given his limited playing time.
