A high school football player needed to be airlifted to hospital after a brutal assault by an opposing player that involved his head getting slammed into the ground before his face was smashed in with a helmet multiple times during a game.
The matchup between Florida panhandle teams Blountstown and Marianna got ugly after the former’s Gavin Lambeth made a tackle on the latter’s Ethan Lipford. For some reason, Lambeth remained on top of Lipford, grabbed his facemask, and shoved his head into the ground until the shell came off – then he started hitting him in the face with it.
You can see the shocking scene in the video right below:
Per WMBB, Lipford was unable to walk or talk after the attack. He was treated for a concussion and, fortunately, has since been discharged from Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare.
Lambeth was ejected from the game and will serve an automatic one-game suspension for unsportsmanlike conduct, but he is expected to field further punishment from the Florida High School Athletic Association and could be in trouble with the law as well.
