This will go down as one of the best bets in betting history.
When March Madness comes around, there is an insane amount of money that is won and lost with people willing to take risks in order to win crazy amounts of cash.
One basketball fan in New Jersey has a story to tell about how he managed to turn a 14-cent bet into more than $1,300 during the first weekend of the 2019 NCAA tournament.
Kevin Maselli is a man who regularly puts pennies on the dollar down on crazy parlays, which is a collection of bets with much bigger payouts due to the odds of correctly predicting multiple outcomes being extremely unlikely.
In an interview with ESPN, he said “placing these cents parlays is something I’ve always done.”
According to ESPN, he used DraftKings to put down a 14-cent parlay with almost 10,000-to-1 odds on point spreads and over-under picks for seven of eight games during the first Saturday of the NCAA Tournament.
Kentucky and Michigan covered the spread, with both games staying under the total. Michigan State, Florida State, Baylor and Purdue all came through for Maselli. The parlay would be decided by Auburn-Kansas, and he needed the Tigers -1.5 plus the game to go over 146.5 points.
“By the 12-minute mark, I started pacing,” Maselli recalled. “At the 4-minute mark, Auburn was in control, but I didn’t really believe it. I told my girlfriend and she didn’t believe it, either. I was in shock.”

Then Maselli won big, thanks to Auburn taking down Kansas, 89-75:
He screamed, “Boom goes the dynamite!” after confirming he had won $1,345.78 off a 14-cent bet.
“I haven’t really dwelled on that I didn’t put more money on it, because I always put like 10 of these a day and, c’mon, what are the odds of hitting one of these?” Maselli said with a laugh. “I mean, c’mon, let’s be honest.”
Thinking small got him a big payday.
