Two years after Bishop Sycamore was exposed as a fraudulent high school, HBO is releasing a documentary to reveal how it all came to be.
It’s shocking that it has actually been that long since we all watched in real-time as the team got destroyed on ESPN.
BS High explores the scandal of Bishop Sycamore High School, a fake institution in Columbus, Ohio, led by head coach Roy Johnson, which duped the high school football world into thinking they were a legit powerhouse.
The national attention surrounding “fake school” Bishop Sycamore largely started in 2021 when that team played a game televised on ESPN against IMG Academy.
IMG put up a 58-0 win that led to ESPN announcers Anish Shroff and Tom Luginbill thinking something was drastically wrong with this matchup and disputing the school’s claims on Division I prospects to “this could potentially be dangerous.”
The unknown Bishop Sycamore High School also had a number of injuries on this day.

The realization of the fake school led to a number of court cases.
The Bishop Sycamore high school football scandal will be on full display Aug. 23 on HBO. The global release follows its world premiere at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival in June.
