Grinnell College had one mission to complete on Thursday night and that was to jack up as many 3-point shots as humanly possible.
The team set an NCAA men’s basketball record for the most 3-pointers attempted in a single game. The Pioneers attempted 111 shots from beyond the arc. They did not attempt a single two-point field goal.
When it was all said and done, Grinnell made 40-of-111 attempts. They won the game against Emmaus Bible College with a 124-67 score. Adam Phillips walked away as the leading scorer with 36 points.
Moze Thurmgreene was next in line with eight 3-pointers made.
The Division-III level will now face Westminster College next.
There’s no telling what the game plan will be for that game.
