The college football transfer portal is one of the most dramatic events in all of sports. The most recent transfer portal was no exception to all the drama. Here is: Grading the top 25 college football transfer portal players of 2024.
25. AJ Harris, B
AJ Harris transferred from Georgia to Penn State, I his freshman year, Harris appeared in seven games for the bulldogs and accumulated eight total tackles. Harris was a five-star recruit coming out of high school and is considered a four-star transfer.
24. Tyler Baron, B-
Baron is transferring from Tennessee to Louisville for his fifth year. Baron made the change from linebacker to edge rusher in his junior season, at Tennessee and has found success, accumulating 8.5 sacks since making the switch. He also recorded a scoop and score touchdown in 2023.
23. Trey More, A
Trey More was an overlooked player in the 2021 recruiting class and was a two-star recruit when he committed to University of Texas San Antonio. Moore is an edge rusher and was named the 2023 American Conference defensive player of the year after recording 14 total sacks in 2023. He will be transferring to the University of Texas for the 2024-25 season.

22. Antwane (Juice) Wells Jr., B
Antwane (Juice) Wells Jr. will be transferring to Ole Miss from the University of South Carolina after missing a majority of the 2023 season with an injury. He announced his decision to forgo the NFL Draft and continue his college career, and many people were led to believe he was returning to South Carolina. Well, syke! Wells fell short of 1,000 yards in his junior year and will look to reach this benchmark as a member of the Rebels during his fifth year of eligibility.
21. Parker Brailsford, B
Redshirt freshman Parker Brailsford was a three-star interior offensive lineman when he committed to the University of Washington. He entered the portal as a four-star and will be attending the University of Alabama in 2024 (at least he will have the same coach).
20. Trevor Etienne, A-
Running back Trevor Etienne transferred from Florida to Georgia for his junior season and will look to play a key role in the Bulldogs offense. In his first two years, Etienne ran for over 700 yards and five touchdowns, but will be looking to make a bigger impact for Georgia.
19. Will Howard, A-
Our first quarterback of this list is transferring to Ohio State from Kansas State. Howard already spent four years for Kansas State and has thrown a total of 48 touchdowns to 28 interceptions in his career with a passer rating of 135.1. In his final year, he will be taking over a national championship caliber team in the Ohio State Buckeyes.
18. Cayden Green, B-
Green is an offensive tackle that will be transferring from Oklahoma to Missouri for the upcoming season. Cayden is a four-star recruit and will bolster an already solid offensive line.
17. Dillon Gabriel, A
Quarterback Dillon Gabriel announced his commitment to Oregon in December of 2023 in lieu of Bo Nix declaring for the NFL Draft. Gabriel will be attending Oregon for his sixth year of college having already transferred once before.
16. Branson Hickman, B-
Interior offensive lineman Branson Jackson will be leaving SMU but has not announced a commitment yet. He is a four-star offensive lineman, and one of the best players in the transfer portal.
15. Riley Leonard, B+
In Lieu of quarterback Sam Hartman leaving for the NFL Draft, Notre Dame recruited former Duke quarterback Riley Leonard as their new starter. Leonard will be attending Notre Dame for his senior season and is yet to throw for more than 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns in a year. He is hoping to change that with a strong Notre Dame passing attack.
14. Tacario Davis, C
Arizona cornerback Tacario Davis has announced his decision to transfer but isn’t committed to another school. Davis will be entering his junior year in 2024 and will look to grab his second interception of his career after recording his first back in 2023.
13. Dante Moore, A+
Moore was a highly touted recruit upon committing to UCLA in 2022. Moore was a five-star quarterback prospect but due to a lack of playing time and team success he will be attending the University of Oregon where he and Dillon Gabriel will be in the running for the starting job.
12. Jabbar Muhammad, B+
Muhammad will be leaving the University of Washington for the University of Oregon to play his senior season. Muhammad is a cornerback and has four career interceptions and 28 passes defended. This is not his first transfer, as he came to UW after leaving Oklahoma State in 2023.
11. Nic Scourton, A+
Nic Scourton recorded ten sacks in 2023 which led the entire Purdue defense. He also recorded 15 tackles for loss. Scourton will be attending Texas A&M in 2024 and is a dark horse candidate for SEC defensive player of the year.
10. Princely Umanmielen, A
Princely has recorded 14.5 sacks as an edge rusher for the Florida Gators and will be transferring to Ole Miss for his fifth year in 2024. Umanmielen has 98 career tackles and will become a larger part of the defense as a member of the Rebels.
9. Zalance Heard, C+
Zalance Heard is an offensive tackle that is transferring from LSU to Tennessee for 2024. He started one game in 2023 as a member of the Tigers but is still a relatively new player in the world of college football.
8. Cam Ward, A+
Ward will be transferring from Washington State University to the University of Miami. After announcing his plan to enter the NFL Draft, then withdrawing his name, Ward will play quarterback for the Hurricanes who need the help on offense.
7. Quinshon Judkins, A+
The highest rated running back in the transfer portal is Quinshon Judkins, who is leaving Ole Miss for Ohio State. Judkins will be entering his junior year after recording back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons, in addition to 15 or more touchdowns every year. Judkins expected to b the missing piece to help propel Ohio State to a national championship.
6. Isaiah Bond, B+
Bond finished his sophomore year at Alabama with 888 career yards and five touchdowns. Bond has shown flashes of greatness when he is on the field, and his transfer to Texas will be the opportunity he needs to become a key part of the offense.
5. Kadyn Proctor, B+
Yet another Alabama transfer is offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor. Proctor was a five-star recruit when he committed to Alabama, and is a four-star now that he is transferring to Iowa. Proctor will be a huge help in bolstering the Hawkeye offensive line, and maybe the team can actually score some points next year.
4. Julian Sayin, C-
The highest rated quarterback transfer in 2024 is Julian Sayin, who is transferring to Ohio State from Alabama. This will make way for an interesting quarterback battle for the Buckeyes in 2024. Sayin is a five-star recruit and is yet to record a stat, despite being a senior in college. However, in view of the fact that he is still a five-star recruit, he is still one of the highest graded players in the transfer portal.
3. Evan Stewart, B
Stewart is transferring from Texas A&M to an already stacked Oregon offense. Stewart is a five-star transfer recruit, and is expected to make a large impact in the Ducks’ receiving core.
2. Walter Nolen, C
Another Texas A&M transfer is Walter Nolen. Nolen is a sophomore defensive lineman transferring to Ole Miss. At Texas A&M, Nolen recorded 5 sacks through his first two years. This accompanied five sacks and a forced fumble.
1. Caleb Downs, B-
Downs is a safety transferring from Alabama to Ohio State for his sophomore year. Downs is a five-star recruit and is looking to make an immediate impact. Downs recorded two picks and four passes defended in 2023, which is solid for a freshman. He also returned a punt for a touchdown against Chattanooga.
